In this context, not only the neoliberal reasons for the unionism but also the elements of the Força Sindical ideas which belong to the world vision of this project are discussed. O artigo analisa a relação entre a ideologia neoliberal e o sindicalismo participacionista, mais precisamente o da Força Sindical, como condição necessária à compreensão da mudança na orientação do Sindicato dos Metalúrgicos de Volta Redonda a partir de 1992, quando sua direção passou a atuar vinculada a essa Central, opondo-se, desde então, à combatividade operária que se fez presente entre aqueles trabalhadores durante o período de 1983 a 1991.
