| description | The present study aims to analyze the degree of empowerment of women who are part of the Agrarian Cooperative of the Piquiri Valley (Cooperagra) and/or the Association of Women of the Settlement of Our Lady (Amana) located in the municipality of Mariluz, northwest region of the state of Paraná, Brazil. To do so, we used data obtained through the application of a questionnaire to the associates, based on the theory that addresses this theme, with which the Gender Empowerment and Development Index (IEDG) was calculated. As main results, it was observed that the level of empowerment is considered moderate and that the dimensions related to this indicator were related to the use of time, fecundity, housing conditions and access to health. However, an excellent result was highlighted regarding the dimension represented by the participation of women in decision-making in the community, cooperative or association and appreciation of their opinions, thus reinforcing that the benefits of collective action are not only economic and that their feasibility is due to the presence of other incentives. O presente estudo tem como objetivo analisar o grau de empoderamento das mulheres que fazem parte da Cooperativa Agrária dos Assentados do Vale do Piquiri (Cooperagra) e/ou da Associação de Mulheres do Assentamento Nossa Senhora (Amana), localizadas no município de Mariluz, região noroeste do estado do Paraná. Para tanto, foram utilizados dados obtidos por meio da aplicação de questionário às associadas, elaborado com base na teoria que aborda tal temática, com os quais foi calculado o Índice de Empoderamento e Desenvolvimento de Gênero (IEDG). Como principais resultados, observou-se que o nível de empoderamento é considerado moderado e que as dimensões que incidiram para esse indicador foram as relativas ao uso do tempo, à fecundidade, às condições habitacionais e ao acesso à saúde. No entanto, destacou-se o ótimo resultado referente à dimensão representada pela participação das mulheres na tomada de decisão na comunidade, cooperativa ou associação e valorização de suas opiniões, reforçando desta forma que os benefícios da ação coletiva não são apenas econômicos e que sua viabilidade se dá pela presença de outros incentivos. Assim, a organização social e os princípios do cooperativismo permitem a inserção social da mulher, aumentando seu empoderamento social, político e psicológico.Palavras-chave: empoderamento; ações coletivas; desenvolvimento rural; cooperativismo.
