| description | Since 1994 after the armed uprising that ended in the occupation of seven cities in the state of Chiapas in Mexico, the Zapatista Army of National Liberation started a process of constituting one of the most important experiences of indigenous autonomy of contemporaneity. From a revolutionary classical Leninist vanguard to an indigenous uprising, the Zapatista movement has asserted itself as an autonomous movement, radically democratic, strongly marked by the statement of an Indian identity and at the same time a Mexican nationalism, imbued with a libertarian spirit influenced by marxist readings and an emancipatory Christian culture, in addition to feminist ideals and references to tradition and customs of the Mayan people. Based on these influences and especially on indigenous traditions, a self-government system was built. In the process of building an autonomous regime, education was the subject of a major mobilization by the Zapatistas. This work aims to demonstrate how the autonomous Zapatista experience and its "true education" project represent a radical questioning of the state educational policy while favoring the emergence of educational strategies consistent with the indigenous demands. |

Desde 1994, después del levantamiento armado que culminó con la ocupación de siete ciudades del estado de Chiapas, en México, el Ejército Zapatista de Liberación Nacional (EZLN) inició un proceso de construcción de una de las experiencias más importantes de autonomía indígena de la contemporaneidad. Partiendo de una vanguardia revolucionaria leninista clásica para una revuelta indígena, el movimiento zapatista se firmó poco a poco como un movimiento autónomo, radicalmente democrático, fuertemente marcado por la afirmación de la identidad indígena y al mismo tiempo nacionalista mexicano, imbuido de un espíritu libertario con influencias de lecturas marxista y de una cultura cristiana emancipatoria, además de los ideales feministas y de las referencias a la tradición y costumbres del pueblo maya. Con base en estas influencias y, especialmente, en las tradiciones indígenas, un sistema de autogobierno fue construido. En este proceso de construcción de un régimen autónomo, la educación ha sido objeto de una importante movilización por parte de los zapatistas. En este artículo se pretende demostrar cómo la experiencia zapatista autónoma y su proyecto de "la verdadera educación" representan un cuestionamiento radical de la política educativa del Estado, mientras que favorecen la urgencia en estrategias educativas correspondientes con las demandas indígenas. RESUMO: Desde 1994, após o levante armado que culminou na ocupação de sete cidades do estado de Chiapas no México, o Exército Zapatista de Libertação Nacional deu início a um processo de constituição de uma das mais importantes experiências de autonomia indígena da contemporaneidade. Partindo de uma vanguarda revolucionária leninista clássica para uma revolta indígena, o movimento zapatista foi se afirmando como um movimento autônomo, radicalmente democrático, fortemente marcado pela afirmação de uma identidade indígena e ao mesmo tempo nacionalista mexicano, impregnado de um espírito libertário com influência de leituras marxistas e de uma cultura cristã emancipatória, além dos ideiais feministas e das referências à tradição e aos costumes dos povos maia. Com base nessas influências e, especialmente, nas tradições indígenas, um sistema de autogoverno foi construído. Nesse processo de construção de um regime autônomo, a educação foi objeto de uma importante mobilização por parte dos zapatistas.
