Among tbe five members of the Andean Community, Ecuador has recently attracted the attention of the international community, due to the high level of immigration originating from this country, chronic political instability, and the regional implications of Plan Colombia. This paper is a compact analysis of tbe most recent political, economic and social developments in Ecuador.
