Considering that there is an extended corpus of literature related to criminal sociology that explains the conditions of detentions of youths located in punitive facilities, this article intends to make a contribution to the analysis of the experience of imprisonment of the youths by highlighting the role that gender relations play in it. |

El presente artículo se propone analizar la construcción de relaciones de género y masculinidades en experiencias de encierro punitivo de jóvenes procesados penalmente en Argentina durante los años 2018 y 2019. Se basa en información obtenida en dos centros de privación de la libertad ubicados en la ciudad de La Plata (provincia de Buenos Aires), con un abordaje de corte cualitativo y el uso de fuentes primarias (diario de campo de observaciones no participantes y entrevistas a jóvenes y otros actores clave). Teniendo en cuenta que existe una amplia bibliografía enmarcada en la sociología penal que da cuenta de las condiciones de detención de los jóvenes alojados en dispositivos penales, este artículo pretende hacer un aporte indagando cuáles son las relaciones de género que se articulan en la experiencia de prisionización de los jóvenes. Se concluye que analizar la construcción de relaciones de género aporta elementos relevantes para la indagación cualitativa de las condiciones de encierro punitivo de jóvenes.
