description | This article was derived from the results of an investigation of the approach to community security in Costa Rica and its impact on urban neighborhood environments. It sought to show the relationships between the underlying doctrine of crime prevention and its impact on the social capital of urban neighborhood spaces, all framed in a context of adaptation of security policies with the intention of improving trust with citizens and the communities. Community security is therefore addressed as a system of action in relation to the dynamics of social capital in these urban spaces. It seeks to question and demonstrate the logic of courses of action and crime prevention practices, on the condition that community security is a preventive criminal policy that is based on the need to create informal social control and strengthen a social capital through the accountability of individuals in security problems in the city. |

This article was derived from the results of an investigation of the approach to community security in Costa Rica and its impact on urban neighborhood environments.
