The oc literature partially explains the articulation between the international market of products and illegal services and the local commerce. However, it doesn’t explain how the urban local organizations emerge and operate and which are their specificities. To solve this problem, I propose the concept urban criminal firm. |

Este es un estudio sobre la delincuencia organizada urbana en la Ciudad de México. El artículo plantea una manera de definirla desde la perspectiva de la economía, como firmas criminales; explica el funcionamiento de estas organizaciones, su arraigo e impacto urbano, así como sus límites para crear y mantener su poder de mercado. Este trabajo propone un modelo para explicar la operación de las organizaciones definidas como Crimen Organizado (en adelante co) en las ciudades de América Latina. Sus acciones tienen un alto impacto en el costo de la violencia, la calidad de vida de sus habitantes y en la gobernanza urbana. La literatura del co explica parcialmente la articulación entre el mercado internacional de productos y servicios ilícitos y la venta a detalle local. Sin embargo, no explica cómo surgen y operan las organizaciones locales urbanas y cuáles son sus especificidades. Para resolver este problema propongo un concepto que llamaré firma criminal urbana.
