Sumario:For the present time, the concept of human dignity is not under discussion at all, and the author remarks that foundations of such a dignity must be settled by Metaphysics, the Science of being as being. On the contrary, nowadays we have accustomed to focus just on the anthropologic point of view, which conslders that human dignity lies on man’s rational nature. But the author explains that from the metaphysical point of view, the human dignity is double: on the one hand, the dignity of rational nature, on which every human being subsists, and that is common to all members of humankind; on the other hand. the dignity of participating in the Being ttself, perfection that sets up human being in the category of substantia, the most important of all categories. So the ultimate reason for human dignity is the Being itself in which human being takes part, and by means of which he subsists on his specific nature.
