Sumario:After all the controversy and criticism that occurred during the twentieth century on Religion, at this point it is difficult, if not impossible, to find people who deny the social relevance of religion. And this happens not only among ordinary people, but also among people in science in general and especially among social scientists. In this article, we propose two complementary tasks. The first is to justify why it is relevant the research on the generic phenomenon of religion and existing religious minority groups in Spanish society, especially in Cantabria. The second task is to make proposals on how to investigate existing religious minorities in our country, which has some peculiarities.
