Sumario: | This article constitutes a first approximation to the subsidiary personal service, a direct contribution that operated in Colombia between 1825 and 1924. It examines the legal framework that regulated it, its functioning in the different localities and the problems faced. Designed as a personal contribution payable in money or work, it was responsible for the maintenance and opening of roads throughout the country. Although, not widely addressed by historiography, it represents an outstanding opportunity to approach the administrative and fiscal dynamics. |
