description | In Colombia, studies on the levels of financial literacy in rural areas are very scarce. In the case of the municipality of Corozal, industrial cassava production represents 65.3% of agricultural production. However, despite the imperative role that this sector plays in the economy of the municipality, there are no previous studies available on the levels of financial literacy of industrial cassava producers. Therefore, this study determines the level of financial literacy of industrial cassava producers in this municipality, and examines whether gender, age, education level, years of experience, and farm size are related to the financial education of these producers. Methodologically, this study is quantitative, descriptive, non-experimental and cross-sectional. Therefore, a questionnaire is adapted from Potrich et al. (2016) and Akoto et al. (2017) and includes the high, medium and low financial literacy ranges proposed by Chen and Volpe (1998) and adapted by Akoto et al. (2017). Results suggest that industrial cassava producers have low levels of financial literacy. Likewise, the low level of financial literacy of industrial cassava producers is associated with factors such as education level and age. |

Results suggest that industrial cassava producers have low levels of financial literacy. Likewise, the low level of financial literacy of industrial cassava producers is associated with factors such as education level and age.
