Sumario:In this paper a performance analysis of tire rate of return to education in the city of Cartagena de Indias (Colombia) during the third quarter of the period 2001-2004, for this purpose uses the information collected by tire DANE Household Survey (ECH). Initially, ii is build a characterization of the market and develops an econometric exercise using linear quantile regression splines, after correcting the sample selection bias using Heckman's methodology. it find that the market rewards the educational investment, especially that done in the more advanced levels (professional and graduate), plus women have more years of education and educational and wage disparities exist between the different percentiles of wage distribution.Key Words: returns to education, splines, quantile regression, human capital, wage distribuiion, education and wage inequalitv.
