Sumario:The present text shows a comparative analysis of four Great Caribbean’s countries, to know: Guatemala, Guyana, Jamaica and Dominican Republic. The issue treated is the relationship between tourism and economic development based in a classification of these countries like heritage owner and no-owner by UNESCO. Thus, two Caribbean state islands (Jamaica and Dominican Republic) and two Caribbean continental countries (Guatemala and Guyana) are compared; also aggregate comparisons are made among Heritage owner countries (Guatemala and Dominican Republic) and Heritage no-owner countries (Guyana and Jamaica). Through literature analysis concerning tourism, is achieved a general perspective about importance of it in actual economy, not only global but in the Caribbean, and with quantitative information analysis show approximations to economic development indicators for studied countries.Key Words: Tourism, economic development, heritage, Caribbean, culture, sun and beach.
