Sumario:ABSTRACTThe aim of this article is to estimate the relationship between access to health services, measured by the use of them, and the socioeconomics characteristics of the cartageneros. For that, it was performed a explicative - transversal study about a sample of 276 people, which was divided by the type of affiliation, considering that the distribution of the inhabitants by type of affiliation is not homogeneous according to the insurance direction of the Secretaría Distrital de Salud. The data was tabulated and processed using the software SPSS 12.0 y Excel2000®. The tests of association and the logistic models showed that the insurance and the marital status determine the access to health services of the system. The education, the health perception and the occupational position turned out to be not significance. The insurance gives benefits perceived by the users, so that it is recommended to take measures that seek to increase the cover.Key Words: Barriers, Cartagena de Indias, Insurance, Disparities in health attention, health services
