Sumario:This article is a literature review, which aims to briefly describe an approach to the concept of corporate social responsibility. For this purpose, a description is done from the perspective of its emergence, evolution, current development and trends. In addition, includes the diversity of initiatives promoted by organizations around the world, as well, as the multiple definitions exposed by researchers, trade associations and regional and local authorities that addressed it, noting significant elements and features, and finally, the theories are presented most recognized which seek to explain it, in the last instance and jointly readily identifiable (from corporate social responsibility) in terms of its components, objectives, relationships, implications and importance in the world of management of business organizations, in today is globalized economy.
