Sumario:This article aims to present the commercial development generated by a company dedicated to the medical market in Cali (Colombia) at the end of the 19th century and during the first three decades of the 20th century. Against this, we study how, when and where this establishment was created and its subsequent development under the influence of a regional, national and global economy. It should be noted that this analysis will be taken into account under the approaches of authors like Alfred Chandler (1977), in particular, which is linked to the duration of the traditional family business. It was seen as a single business unit, a person or a small group of owners running a workshop, factory, factory, bank or transport business from a single office. Second, these different types of establishments had a single economic function, they traded in a single range of products and in a geographic area. Seeking the identification in the company of the particularities which were generated, especially, the reason for its constitution, its development, its consolidation and its subsequent transformation into a company of another type. Finally make the link with the concept of modern business proposed by the same author previously referenced.
