Sumario:Port activities play a ley role for regional and national competitiveness by increasing international trade flows with positive impacts on productivity, and economic development. Cities like Cartagena de Indias need to Focus on strategies to maintain its comparative and competitive advantages. On this regard, the research propose a strategic framework for the analysis of the logistic sector following Porter’s five forces approach. Results suggest that improvements in local infraestructure allow to integrate Cartagena de Indias with more than 600 international ports in 140 countries, becoming as the most important cluster of its kind in the región.
