This sector is strongly influenced by the changes of climate conditions such as weather seasons, droughts and even social protests that affect negatively the continuous and normal functioning of the supply chain. In this sense, an optimization model is presented which considers the key variables of the system, parameters and restrictions that determine its behavior. Finally, scenarios for improvement of the system are proposed. La presente investigación analiza la gestión de abastecimiento e inventario en la cadena de suministro del sector lácteo en Colombia, con particular énfasis en la región del caribe colombiano. Este sector se encuentra altamente influenciado por los fenómenos y cambios climáticos, tales como las estaciones, sequías e incluso movilizaciones sociales, los cuales inciden negativamente en el flujo continuo o normal de la cadena de abastecimiento (proveedor – transformador – minorista), logrando afectar el cumplimiento de los requerimientos de los clientes. Por ello, se presenta un modelo de optimización que considera las variables mas importantes del sistema, los parámetros identificados y las restricciones que detallan el comportamiento de la cadena. Finalmente, se proponen escenarios de mejora.
