Sumario:This paper tries to generate an analysis about the small Colombian companies’ competitiveness, taking into account different authors such as Henry Mintzberg (2000), who studies the design of organizations from the task specialization perspective; the vision of Gareth Jones (2008) analyzing the evolution of design and business strategy in a constantly changing environment from an internal perspective. Eventually, taking as competitive process basis, the contributions of Michael Porter (1979-2011), who suggested the pillars of  competitiveness based on the strategic advantages analysis in a dynamic economy; and the contributions of Klaus Esser and his colleagues (1996) stating that the competitive development process requires an analysis and interaction of a number of levels within the framework of systemic competitiveness, addressing external components in order to propose an organizational diagnostic approach thinking over internal and external factors for determining competitive position and improvement opportunities.
