It has been rewritten and deepened for this occasion. Here I discuss the age changes and its consequences related to the social configurations, welfare systems and professions that intervene in a social assistance field, particularly in social work. Therefore, I follow a concise path through the last forty years in our region in order to develop these changes taking my time to observe the neoliberal political projects and in the subjectivity that was taking shape; these world views at the same time holding the same projects. In that record I put “social welfare” and its metamorphosis in step with different formats which social policies adopt. It´s just because of this scenario that I consider important to explore in detail the conditions of possibility to build more inclusive and equal societies, in order to overcome the repetition of the same proposals facing problems that show very different today than they used to appear years before. In this sense I bring up the question of “common/commons” as a core idea to re-think alternatives leading to new horizons in which social work - from its own position- may contribute. |

El artículo surge de la conferencia dictada en la jornada de apertura del III Seminario interinstitucional virtual sobre políticas sociales y trabajo social: “La investigación del Bienestar Social desde el Trabajo Social” organizado por el Grupo de Estudio integrado por académicos, investigadores y alumnos de posgrado de las Universidades de Nuevo León, Guadalajara y Ciudad de Juárez, reescrito y profundizado para esta publicación. En él discuto las transformaciones epocales y sus consecuencias en relación con las configuraciones sociales, los sistemas de bienestar y las profesiones que intervienen en el campo social asistencial, en particular trabajo social. Para ello realizo un recorrido sintético por los últimos cuarenta años en nuestra región a fin de dar cuenta de estos cambios deteniéndome en los proyectos políticos neoliberales y en la subjetividad que se fue moldeando, cosmovisiones que, a la vez, sostienen esos mismos proyectos. En ese registro tomo el “bienestar social” y su metamorfosis al compás de los distintos formatos que adquieren las políticas sociales. Es justamente por este escenario que considero importante explorar detenidamente las condiciones de posibilidad para la construcción de sociedades más inclusivas y justas, en pos de superar la reiteración de las mismas propuestas frente a problemáticas que hoy se muestran muy diferentes a las que aparecían hace tiempo atrás. En este sentido recupero el tema de lo común/comunes como un eje para repensar alternativas que lleven a nuevos horizontes en los que trabajo social, desde su lugar, pueda aportar.
