Sumario:This article offers some lines of interpretation on the understanding of the relationship between modernity, the State and conflict in Colombia. It is intended to show how the experience of modernity is a delayed or incomplete experience due to the way in which the configuration of the State itself triggers structural factors linked to the origin and persistence of an internal armed conflict. A look is made of the treatment that has been given to this conflict and the traces of what would be the postponement of the experience of modernity are derived from it.
