Desde el año 2008 el Instituto para la Paz y el Desarrollo reporta la Paz en 162 naciones a través del Índice de Paz Global, de igual manera el Índice de Desarrollo Humano es medido por el Programa de las Naciones Unidas para el Desarrollo, el objetivo del presente artículo es asociar estos dos índices ya que su correlación es estadísticamente significativa y se encontró que los países más pacíficos son los países más desarrollados, con menor tasa de homicidios y menor gasto militar, mayor esperanza de vida al nacer, mayor tasa de escolaridad y mejor ingreso per cápita. Las teorías de paz y desarrollo habían contado con pocos o ningún dato para ser probadas, en este estudio se aprovechan estos dos nuevos indicadores de paz y desarrollo para medir su correlación y qué tan claro es el desarrollo mediante la paz.
