description In 2015, the Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana carried out in the city of Palmira the project entitled 'Environmental education' which aimed to offer an alternative means of obtaining food for the children of the Fundación Hogar Divino Niño and identify the plants that could be used in the field with the aim of minimizing the negative impact on the environment and thus promoting a certain food sovereignty. Although the project was conceived from an agricultural perspective, it became a participatory scenario where it was interesting to analyze the role of non-formal education processes and communication for social change as a transversal axis to this class of social processes that manage to bring together to a community around a common good, thus promoting scenarios that translate into an improvement in the quality of life.

En el año 2015, la Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana ejecutó en la ciudad de Palmira el proyecto titulado ‘Educación ambiental’ que tuvo por objetivo ofrecer un medio alterno de consecución de alimentos para los niños de la Fundación Hogar Divino Niño e identificar las plantas que pudieran ser utilizadas en el terreno con el ánimo de minimizar el impacto negativo en el ambiente y promover de esta manera cierta soberanía alimentaria. Aunque el proyecto fue concebido desde una perspectiva agrícola, se convirtió en un escenario de participación en donde resultó interesante analizar el papel de los procesos de educación no formales y la comunicación para el cambio social como eje transversal a esta clase de procesos sociales que logran reunir a una comunidad en torno a un bien común, propiciando así escenarios que se traducen en una mejora de la calidad de vida.
