Sumario:The issue of technological consumption by young people of this time is a challenge for teachers, since they are the ones who can transform the minds of students based on the common good of society. Therefore, the objective of this article is to make a theoretical analysis that allows educators to reflect on the educational responsibility they have before young consumers of technology without a pedagogical purpose. There is an urgent need for the teacher to be updated in the technological field, because the virtual world plays an important role in the daily lives of children and young people. That is why the teacher must raise awareness of the ways in which this means of communication is used, in order to put it at the service of knowledge. The starting point of this work is the establishment by UNESCO of competency standards in Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) for teachers, as this professional is the most suitable for transmitting to students the notions and skills capabilities to access the mass of information provided by the Internet.
