Sumario: | In the context of the commemoration of the Bicentennial of the Independence of Colombia, this article examines the contribution of landed properties and slave mines in the provinces of Chocó and Popayán during the Independence process, both on the Republican side and on the Spanish side. Thus, an attempt is made to analyze how the capacity of these productive units was used to strengthen and finance the armies in the field through the provision of foot of force, provisions and manpower for infrastructure works. In the end, it was observed how these epicenters of production showed a state of devastation as a product of the prolonged war that was lived in these lands of the west and south of Colombia.
