We hope to recreate a representation of the past that helps us to relate with to current times. |

In the case of Loja, its history was written under the thorough observation of chroniclers who in the XVI century collected information about diverse human settlements and some of their cultural components. This article is a compilation of the historical discourse focused on this territory, based on the chroniclers’ testimonies and archaeological evidence. We hope to recreate a representation of the past that helps us to relate with to current times. La historia requiere de la figuración narrativa y el discurso histórico como una forma de representación del pasado. En el caso de Loja, su historia fue escrita bajo la observación minuciosa de los cronistas que en el siglo XVI recopilaron información sobre distintos asentamientos humanos y sobre varios de sus componentes culturales. Este artículo expone la recopilación del discurso histórico centrado en este territorio, basado en los testimonios de los cronistas y en las anotaciones de las evidencias arqueológicas. Esperamos recrear una representación del pasado que sirva para relacionarnos con el presente.
