Sumario:History requires figurative narrative and historical discourse as a way of representing the past. In the case of Loja, its history was written under the thorough observation of chroniclers who in the XVI century collected information about diverse human settlements and some of their cultural components. This article is a compilation of the historical discourse focused on this territory, based on the chroniclers’ testimonies and archaeological evidence. We hope to recreate a representation of the past that helps us to relate with to current times.
