Sumario:Gender Studies, from the perspective of masculinities, have suggested that although there is a favorable rhetoric in men in relation to significant changes in the exercise of parenting; in parallLLel, there are still practices and naRRatives that are far from a break with the traditional masculinity and fatherhood model in the Mexican context; particularlRLy, what is taking place at the National Polytechnic Institute (IPNipn). The institute has made significant efforts to structure a comprehensive policy favoring gender equality, fostering a culture of co-responsibility and equity between women and men in their community in relation to unpaid reproductive and household work. This proposal makes visible the ways in which IPN workers live and exercise their paternity, conceiving this as a complex and diverse exercise, responding to a model in which hegemonic masculinity values prevail and limit the discourses, practices and scenarios that benefit men’s involvement and participation as a way of guaranteeing gender equity.
