Sumario:This text provides an analysis of the challenge represented by the legal systems of Ecuadorian indigenous nationalities since the 1998 Constitution was approved until today, and their relation with the ordinary legal system. To that end, we undertake an approach to the period the 1998 Constitution was in force, up to 2008, the year in which the current Constitution was approved. The article concludes by describing some future challenges arising from the subject of indigenous legal systems and its relationship to ordinary justice.
