| description | The United Forces for Our Disappeared in Nuevo Leon (FUNDENL) is a group of mothers and wives of people who disappeared. FUNDENL organizes autonomously to find their family members. This group is maintaining the legacy of women who have historically mobilized against disappearances, such as the Mothers of the Plaza de Mayo during the dictatorship in Argentina or the mothers of the Eureka Committee during the “dirty war” in Mexico. Why are women the ones who, in most cases, decide to search for their loved ones? The goal of this text is to analyze the gender dimension in the representations of collective identity and activism of the members of FUNDENL by observing their processes of resistance and empowerment through a feminist lens. The article argues the practices in their struggle, such as the embroidery for peace, are linked to their own experiences as women and mothers. Life histories and qualitative field work are used to understand this issue. With traditionally feminine practices, such as embroidery, the mothers and wives of FUNDENL resignify motherhood and love in the struggle for the disappeared, constructing new references about the role of women in social mobilization. |

Las Fuerzas Unidas por Nuestros Desaparecidos(as) en Nuevo León (FUNDENL) son un grupo de madres y esposas de personas desaparecidas que desde 2012 se organizan de forma autónoma para encontrar a sus familiares, continuando el legado de otras mujeres que históricamente se movilizaron contra la desaparición, como las Madres de la Plaza de Mayo durante la dictadura en Argentina o las madres del Comité Eureka durante la llamada “guerra sucia” en México. ¿Por qué son las mujeres quienes, en la mayoría de los casos, deciden buscar a sus seres queridos? El objetivo de la presente reflexión es analizar las representaciones de la dimensión de género en la identidad colectiva y activismo de las integrantes del grupo de mujeres buscadoras a partir de sus procesos de resistencia y empoderamiento desde una mirada feminista. Se argumenta que prácticas presentes en su lucha política, como el bordado por la paz, están relacionadas con sus propias experiencias como mujeres y madres. Este artículo se aproxima a dicha experiencia vivida mediante la técnica de historias de vida y trabajo de campo cualitativo. Gracias al uso político de prácticas tradicionalmente femeninas como el bordado, las madres y esposas de FUNDENL resignifican la maternidad y el amor en la lucha por las y los desaparecidos para construir nuevas referencias del papel de las mujeres en la movilización social. As Forças Unidas para os Desaparecidos em Nuevo León (FUNDENL) são um grupo de mães e esposas de desaparecidos que desde 2012 se organizam de forma independente para encontrar seus parentes, continuando o legado de outras mulheres que historicamente se mobilizaram contra o desaparecimento, como as Mães da “Plaza de Mayo” durante a ditadura na Argentina ou as mães do Comitê “Eureka” durante a chamada "guerra suja" no México. Por que são as mulheres, na maioria dos casos, que decidem procurar seus seres queridos? O objetivo desta reflexão é analisar as representações da dimensão de gênero na identidade coletiva e o ativismo das integrantes do grupo de mulheres que procuram os desaparecidos, com base em seus processos de resistência e empoderamento, a partir de uma perspectiva feminista. Argumenta-se que as práticas presentes na luta política delas, como o bordado pela paz, estão relacionadas às suas próprias experiências como mulheres e mães. Este artigo aborda essa experiência vivida através da técnica de histórias de vida e trabalho de campo qualitativo. Graças ao uso político de práticas tradicionalmente femininas, como o bordado, as mães e esposas da FUNDENL resinificam a maternidade e o amor na luta pelos desaparecidos para construir novas referências para o papel da mulher na mobilização social.
