Sumario: | The opening of the archives of the Communist International meant a new analysis of the history of communist parties, especially in relation to their rise and consolidation, their debates and internal conflicts, and their ties, not always harmonious, with Moscow. At the same time, the analysis of this important trove of documents, as a protagonist all but ignored in official stories and in institutionalized memories, made possible a new gaze at the history of the 20th century, especially the history of Latin American states. This article points out a number of basic aspects as regards interpretation of these archives currently underway, as well as certain elements that should be taken into account in the creation of a future agenda for analysis of the history of communist parties.
