In response to the first question, this article illustrates the role of this event in relation to the succession of Fidel Castro’s historic leadership. In regards to the second, it addresses the anger that people have passively manifested in the light of these changes. Finally, we confirm the absence of any type of democratic impulse coming from above. But what if this impulse is originated below? |

El VI Congreso del Partido Comunista Cubano aprobó reformas orientadas al mercado en la economía interna del país ¿Cómo se explica el contenido de esta agenda? ¿Por qué se ha observado una máxima gradualidad en su implementación? ¿Hay algún espacio para la democracia? Este artículo ilustra, para la primera pregunta, el papel que en estos acontecimientos ha tenido el problema de la sucesión de la dirigencia histórica y, para la segunda, una reacción popular manifestada de forma mayormente como disenso pasivo frente a los cambios. En cuanto a las reformas sostenemos que ha estado ausente cualquier impulso democrático desde arriba, pero ¿podría este venir desde abajo?
