It analyses the role of the Ministry of Interior and the political functions it performed for a long time through political ministry of the national cabinet and the tools at its disposal in confronting the challenges of political brokerage. The work involved in political brokerage between actors undertaken by the Ministry from 1983 onward is also analysed with particular attention focused on the differences across historical periods and the resources and skills involved in this process. Este artículo aborda el carácter multifacético del trabajo político a partir de una investigación sobre los “armadores políticos” desde el regreso a la democracia hasta 2007 en Argentina. Se caracteriza al Ministerio del Interior y las principales tareas que lo hicieron durante mucho tiempo el ministerio político del gabinete nacional y las herramientas de las que dispuso para enfrentar sus principales pruebas. Se conceptualiza además el trabajo de intermediación entre pares realizado por sus miembros desde 1983, puntualizando sus desafíos principales en diferentes períodos históricos, así como los recursos y destrezas valorados para afrontarlos. Este artigo aborda a natureza multifacetada do trabalho político a partir de uma investigação sobre os "armadores políticos" desde o retorno à democracia até 2007 na Argentina. Caracteriza-se o Ministério do Interior e as principais tarefas que o fizeram durante muito tempo o ministério político do gabinete nacional, assim como as ferramentas das quais dispus para enfrentar os seus principais testes. Também é conceitualizado o trabalho de intermediação entre pares realizado por seus membros desde 1983, destacando seus principais desafios em diferentes períodos históricos, bem como os recursos e habilidades valorados para enfrentá-los.
