To understand these practices means to uncover and illuminate the mechanisms that allow for the construction of the sense of what is legitimate and what is possible, as well as the channels and mechanisms for resolving local disputes. Specifically, this study examines how residents organize themselves to make demands on the State and how they interface with the State in a contemporary context marked by projects of urban renewal and the regularization of the favelas. |

La política es comprendida aquí en su sentido más amplio, es decir, como el ámbito donde se gestionan los desacuerdos y se construyen los consensos por los cuales regirse colectivamente. Investigar las prácticas referidas a este espacio implica indagar los mecanismos que subyacen a la construcción del sentido de lo legítimo y lo posible, así como de los caminos para llevar adelante estas disputas. Específicamente este trabajo estudia cómo se organizan los habitantes de este territorio para llevar adelante sus reivindicaciones en un contexto marcado por los proyectos de urbanización de las favelas y qué características tiene la relación que entablan estas organizaciones con el Estado. Este artigo analisa as práticas políticas dos habitantes das favelas do Rio de Janeiro a partir de um trabalho de campo etnográfico realizado entre os anos 2010 e 2015 na favela de Santa Marta. A política é entendida aqui no seu sentido mais amplo, isto é, como a esfera em que são geridos os desentendimentos e construídos os consensos por meio dos quais é possível se reger coletivamente. Investigar as práticas referidas a este espaço implica indagar os mecanismos subjacentes à construção do sentido do legítimo e do possível, assim como dos caminhos para levar adiante estas disputas. Especificamente, este trabalho estuda como os habitantes deste território se organizam para levar adiante as suas reivindicações num contexto marcado pelos projetos de urbanização das favelas e quais as características do relacionamento que essas organizações estabelecem com o Estado.
