| description | This article examines the relevance of the adjacent context and the vision and participation in peacekeeping operations in the external agendas of Argentina, Chile, and Venezuela during the first decade of the twenty-first century. To this end, the categories of threat perceptions and territorial conflicts, military expenditures, positions on measures about mutual confidence, and participation in peace missions are used. It is assumed that governments can announce the formation of a strategic alliance; it is worth asking if the announcement is a necessary and sufficient condition for the existence of this peculiar form of relationship between States. It is hoped that this study will allow the identification of the relevance and the existence, or not, of complementarity spaces in this thematic area to reflect on how close Argentina-Chile and Argentina-Venezuela are to the formation of a strategic alliance. |

Este artículo examina la relevancia del contexto contiguo y la visión y participación en operaciones de mantenimiento de la paz en las agendas externas de Argentina, Chile y Venezuela durante la primera década del siglo XXI. Para ello, se utilizan las categorías de percepciones de amenaza y conflictos territoriales, gastos militares, posiciones sobre medidas de confianza mutua y participación en misiones de paz. Se parte de que los gobiernos pueden anunciar la conformación de una alianza estratégica; cabe preguntar si el anuncio es una condición necesaria y suficiente para la existencia de esta forma peculiar de relación entre Estados. Se espera que este estudio permita identificar la relevancia y la existencia o no de espacios de complementariedad en esta área temática para reflexionar acerca de cuán próximos se encuentran Argentina-Chile y Argentina-Venezuela de la conformación de una alianza estratégica. Este artigo examina a relevância do contexto contíguo e a visão e participação em operações de manutenção da paz nas agendas externas da Argentina, Chile e Venezuela durante a primeira década do século XXI. Para isso, são utilizadas as categorias de percepções de ameaças e conflitos territoriais, gastos militares, posicionamentos sobre medidas de confiança mútua e participação em missões de paz.
