Este ensayo se refiere a la democratización social del cuerpo de oficiales del ejército peruano. Aquí planteo que a diferencia de las otras instituciones castrenses del país, el ejército es la corporación militar que cuenta con una importante oficialidad chola, es decir, de procedencia popular, migrante y andina. Este es un proceso que ha ido de la mano con la andinización de las zonas urbanas en el Perú, el discurso inclusivo desarrollado en la primera fase del gobierno del General Velasco (1968-1975) y los eventos acontecidos durante los años del conflicto armado interno (1980-2000).
