This work is intended to demonstrate the existing relationships between the processes of the occupation of Amazonia and the different modernities, with the purpose of detecting the new forms of land use and how they relate to the elements that define the present history. All of this is viewed from a Venezuelan perspective. |

The integration processes that Brazil and Venezuela are implementing in their common border are a manifest proof that both governments are aware of the interest that Amazonia arouses in our present world. This work is intended to demonstrate the existing relationships between the processes of the occupation of Amazonia and the different modernities, with the purpose of detecting the new forms of land use and how they relate to the elements that define the present history. All of this is viewed from a Venezuelan perspective. La ocupación de la Amazonía ha formado parte de las diferentes modernidades por las que ha transitado la historia de los hombres en América. La “revalorización” que experimenta, sobre todo desde las últimas décadas del siglo pasado, está relacionada con la modernidad que define al mundo de nuestros días. Los procesos de integración que impulsan Brasil y Venezuela en su frontera común es una muestra evidente de que ambos gobiernos están muy atentos del interés que la Amazonía despierta en el momento actual. Con este trabajo se pretende mostrar las relaciones existentes entre los procesos de ocupación de la Amazonía y las diferentes modernidades, con la intención de detectar las nuevas formas de uso del territorio y cómo éstas se relacionan con los contenidos que definen a la historia del presente.
