Sumario: | This article examines the percent increase in the values of the square meter of land and built area attributed to the “Barrio para Vivir Mejor” (BVM) program in the intervened areas of the city of Cuenca (2013-2017). The BVM program goal is to improve inhabitant’s living conditions through the employment of local labour in infrastructure works and public services. This study applies methods such as Difference-in-Difference; Propensity Score Matching and Double Matched Difference in a sample of 27,720 properties, the data was obtained from the Project Execution Department (UEP), and the Appraisals and Cadastres Department (UAC) of the GAD Cuenca. The results show that, on average, the properties had a 7 % and 4 % increase of in the value of the square meter of built area respectively. Despite the positive effects on residential properties, it is concluded that investment in infrastructure did not reach the spillover effect on the local economy.
