Sumario: | The research analyzes the implementation and scope of the 2020 regional edition of the Latin American and the Caribbean Open Data Barometer, led by the Latin American Open Data Initiative (ILDA), in Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru. It seeks to identify findings and generate recommendations for the Barometer regarding the formation of the regional team, the methodology, the data collection process, the role of international organizations, and the need for a global Barometer. The theoretical framework addresses public administration, government, and open data to measurement instruments. The methodological approach was qualitative and implemented a semi-structured interview presented to the consultants responsible for data collection and the coordinating organization. Countries should continue to make their data available and sustain investment in this area. The results show the usefulness of widespread cooperation and of providing opportunities to establish an inclusive, mature and quality agenda. It is also advisable to deepen the analysis in each country and seek strategies to standardize regional development.
