Este artículo analiza, a partir de la violencia ginecoobstétrica, dos situaciones alrededor de las políticas estatales interculturales de los cuerpos de las mujeres indígenas de la provincia del Chimborazo en Ecuador: la primera, el parto culturalmente adecuado y la segunda, la criminalización del aborto. Para esto, se recurre a la discusión alrededor de los estudios de género y Estado mediante el debate de políticas de reconocimiento, Estado marginal y colonialismo. Esta investigación, aunque se centra en el caso de la comunidad Balda Lupaxi, ubicada en el cantón Colta, contextualiza la situación de los derechos sexuales y reproductivos de las mujeres indígenas en general mediante el uso de encuestas y la observación en asambleas.
