Sumario:This article analyzes the concept of cooperative security adopted by Colombia in the defense and security policy proposed in the National Development Plan 2018-2022 "pact for Colombia, pact for equity", this is done taking as reference the conceptual framework of national security taxonomy. It seeks to glimpse if cooperative security and what has been tried to implement with it is sufficient for the current post-agreement stage that Colombia is experiencing, or if, on the contrary, the reason why the Colombian State has adopted this concept lies in the need to reach an institutional consensus or pressure from intergovernmental actors such as NATO, forgetting that Colombia is experiencing its own conjunctural elements that do not fully capture the concept of cooperative security. For this reason, the debate of international relations on security and its concepts will be presented, among which is cooperative security; In the second part, different factors that limit cooperation on security issues within the country will be exposed, therefore, restrictions are faced to achieve a cooperative framework, limiting the effectiveness of cooperative security when facing the current conflict.
