Sumario: | The text is proposed as an initial exercise in the construction of the Historical Memory of the Industrial University of Santander, UIS, within the framework of the Colombian internal armed conflict during the 1980s, with the aim of promoting symbolic collective reparation before the university community and the community in general, a fundamental step in the consolidation of peace and in the enforceability of guarantees for non-repetition of the victimizing acts. Based on the recognition that social memories are dispute fields, methodologically we appeal to oral history as a way of promoting the active participation of affected social actors and that, up to now, their voices have been silenced or dismissed in the resolution of their problematic. The university as a territory is a convergence of diverse knowledge space, movements, organizations and social actors. Next, we focus on the artistic groups that emerged in the UIS, with the purpose of understanding what was the role of artists, and how they contributed to the formation of a broad social movement in which various sectors of the UIS and of the Bumanguesa society.
