| Sumario: | Biodiversity is crucial for the production of goods and services marketable and unmarketable. In Colombia, the biodiversity has contributed significantly to economic development and poverty alleviation. From a complete review of literature and a transdisciplinary approach, the following questions are addressed: There is any relationship between better biodiversity level and the lower poverty levels? What factors determine the economic and social importance of biodiversity, not visible? Why our environmental public policies have not been implemented, or what happened to their expected impacts? Finally, some recommendations for addressing biodiversity relationship - poverty in Colombia.
