It is an effort of theoretical construction based on the interpretation of the specific historical processes that occurred in a region that has shared similar situations of domination and subordination to the different hegemonic powers for centuries. |

Parte de un trabajo más amplio sobre el desarrollo territorial desigual en América Latina, este artículo realiza una revisión histórica de los impactos acumulativos y dinámicos sobre el territorio y las ciudades, en particular; y de las políticas y acciones de las distintas formas estatales en la formación económico-social de la región. La revisión histórica abarca desde la conquista por las potencias ibéricas hasta nuestros días, cuando la consolidación del patrón neoliberal de acumulación de capital, como arquitectura actual del capitalismo histórico, determina la estructura, la forma, los procesos y los conflictos de nuestras grandes metrópolis y ciudades región, dominadas por los capitales inmobiliario-financieros transnacionalizados, en su articulación con gobiernos subsidiarios y facilitadores de su operación. Se trata de un esfuerzo de construcción teórica a partir de la interpretación de los procesos históricos específicos ocurridos en una región que ha compartido durante siglos similares situaciones de dominio y subordinación a las diferentes potencias hegemónicas. Parte de um trabalho mais amplo sobre o desenvolvimento territorial desigual na América Latina, este artigo faz uma revisão histórica dos impactos cumulativos e dinâmicos sobre o território, as cidades em particular, das políticas e ações das diferentes formas de Estado existentes nas formações socioeconômicas da região, desde a conquista pelas potências ibéricas, até os dias atuais, quando a consolidação do padrão neoliberal de acumulação de capital, como a atual arquitetura do capitalismo histórico, determina a estrutura, a forma, os processos e os conflitos de nossas grandes metrópoles e cidades, dominadas por capitais imobiliário-financeiros transnacionalizados, em sua articulação com governos subsidiários e facilitadores de sua operação.
