Then, in the second part of the paper, we are re-constructing the concept of "way of life" a.nd fmally, we are presenting some results of our research about the practica! contents of both concepts -way of life and subjectivity- in our study arca, the Chalco Valley, a large suburb of Mexico City.The way of life only can be understood in its differnts configurations, if we introduce a study to the everyday practices of the inhabitants those the requiring also the analysis of subjectivity as the way of giving sense to the everyday actions of the subject, to its everyday practices. In this relationship between the everyday life of the inhabitants of the periphery and the related imaginary, a social construction of the territory is taking shape as a process including materials expressions and others from a symbolical type. |

En la búsqueda de nuevos acercamientos a la complejidad metropolitana -antes que instalados en reproducir en distintos contextos urbanos enfoques ya instituidos- en este ar tículo se analiza una zona de la periferia de la ciudad de México desde el punto de vista del sujeto anónimo que vive y hace la ciu dad, su barrio y la vida urbana, con cada acto cotidiano. A esta aproximación la hemos identificado como la "construcción social del territorio periferico" y en ella el modo de vida y la subjetividad social son los concep tos nodales. Así, en la primera parte se le otorgan contenidos a la expresión "construc ción social del territorio periférico" con el objetivo de entenderla como una forma de estudiar la periferia de las grandes ciudades. Luego, en el segundo apartado se reconstru ye el concepto de modo de vida, y por último se presentan los contenidos concretos que toman el modo de vida y la subjetividad so cial en el área de estudio. El modo de vida sólo puede configurarse de distintas maneras cuando se identifican prácticas cotidianas; y éstas por su parte requieren del análisis de la subjetividad, como la forma de darle sentido a lo que el sujeto hace cotidianamente, es decir, darle sentido a su prácticas.
