En este texto, propongo explorar las representaciones sobre los cuerpos afrodescendientes en un conjunto de obras de la literatura nacional argentina del siglo XIX. Luego, me interesa indagar en la forma como un grupo de poetas afrodescendientes de Buenos Aires se situó en relación con tales representaciones, elaboradas por miembros de las élites políticas e intelectuales del país. Las representaciones sobre el cuerpo, así como la función biopolítica que pudieron tener de los textos literarios de los escritores de las élites, permiten aproximarnos a la conjunción entre raza y construcción de la nación en Argentina.
