El objetivo de este artículo es exponer las dos dimensiones que configuran el Análisis del Discurso. Una permite caracterizarlo como una perspectiva teórica, con un sesgo más o menos crítico; la otra posibilita tomarlo como una herramienta metodológica para construir, describir e interpretar datos lingüísticos. Con el fin de ejemplificar ambas dimensiones, se realiza el análisis de un texto noticioso que manifiesta la relación entre los grupos promineros y la prensa en una provincia del sur argentino.
