Sumario:This article identifies the causes that determine and hinder future development prospects of a group of young people living in the shantytown called Gambino Pascual in Quilicura, characterized by social exclusion and stigmatization. The methodology used was a case study using techniques of in-depth interviews and participant observation, in order to reveal underlying mechanisms of social marginalization and stigmatization within the group, through the reconstruction and understanding of everyday life, shaped by their social spaces, social representations and social interactions. It is is possible to argue that the social marginalization of these young people has  been driven mainly by the poor design of social policies implemented by the State of Chile, which do not ensure adequate socialization processes and social integration.
