description This text addresses the centrality of cultural management in the development of a cultural sector in Brazil, pointing out favorable and unfavorable perspectives and scenarios for this activity. Opposed to a technicist view of the professional practice of cultural managers, the study defends the need for a critical learning and an engaged performance, capable of facing the increasingly complex challenges of the sector within the dismantling context we live in. Lastly, it highlights insurgencies and experiences that present themselves as possible references for a cultural management more committed to the current Brazilian reality.

Lastly, it highlights insurgencies and experiences that present themselves as possible references for a cultural management more committed to the current Brazilian reality. Este texto aborda a centralidade da gestão cultural no desenvolvimento do setor da cultura no Brasil, apontando perspectivas e conjunturas favoráveis e desfavoráveis a essa atividade. Em oposição a uma visão tecnicista do exercício profissional de gestoras e gestores culturais, defende a necessidade de uma formação crítica e de uma atuação engajada, capaz de enfrentar os desafios cada vez mais complexos do setor no contexto de desmonte em que vivemos. Por fim, destaca insurgências e experiências que se apresentam como possíveis referências para uma gestão cultural mais comprometida com a atual realidade brasileira. Este texto expone la centralidad de la gestión cultural en el desarrollo del sector de la cultura en Brasil, señalando perspectivas y circunstancias favorables y desfavorables para esta actividad. Frente a una visión tecnicista del ejercicio profesional de las gestoras y gestores culturales, se defiende la necesidad de formación crítica y actuación comprometida, capaz de afrontar los cada vez más complejos retos del sector en el contexto de destrucción de las políticas públicas en el que vivimos.
