O presente estudo avaliou a dinâmica do uso da terra e seusefeitos nas características físicas e na degradação do soloem Guarapuava/PR. Para isso, foi realizado preliminarmenteo mapeamento da paisagem da bacia do Rio Guabiroba.Posteriormente foram selecionados os usos da terra maisfreqüentes no âmbito da bacia. Nesses usos foram avaliadasalgumas características biofísicas como dinâmica do uso daterra em agricultura de subsistência, serrapilheira estocada,resistência do solo, densidade aparente, porosidade total einfiltração de água no solo. O uso da terra na área de estudoapresenta um padrão em forma de mosaico (limites abruptos)em decorrência da diversidade de usos, bem como pelos compartimentosgeomorfopedológicos bem definidos.
